Distance In Soccer

2246 Words9 Pages

Soccer which is also commonly known as football is a game that has been played since 1863. It´s a match between 11 players on each side and trying to get a ball that approximately weighs 1pound into a net. Soccer grounds can have different distances from one goal to the other or the whole ground in general. Distance can have different definitions but in this exploration, distance is the space between two things. In this case it will be the displacement from the position of the player and the ball to the goal post.
The goalpost that is going to used is 2,7m high vertically and 1,7m wide. A picture is provided at pg 2. This topic came from my ambitious engagement and excitement for football or Soccer. It´s a game that I have been playing since …show more content…

What´s difficult is getting the ball at a certain speed, placing it at the right angle, from a particular distance at a specific angle in the net, that´s what most soccer player struggle with and hence the question:
At what angle, velocity in correlation to distance does a soccer ball need to be in order for it to hit the net?

Different distance Calculate the Vertica Height of the football Calculate the velocity and angle (trail) Different angles you can place the ball, from a certain distance Lastly, at what angle, velocity do you need to hit the ball, from a certain displacement to get in the goal post? Spin
The first thing that should be known is the distances, the vertical distance and the horizontal distance. The vertical distance can be measured through different ways moreover the horizontal distance which is more easier can be measured using a tape.
Moreover in this investigation different distance were taken to measure the two other variables which are the velocity of the ball and the angle at which the ball went at. The distance were these.

There is a clear indication that the more or further away a person gets from a target in this case( a goalpost) the most the person needs to elevate his or her angle. The more the distance the higher the angle. From distance 10 which had 15,7 degrees and distance 40 had 19,7 degrees. This shows how a soccer player thinks or a football player thinks when he/she plays football. The longer the distance the higher the power of the ball to get it to that specific distance which also means, the angle of elevation and where the ball is headed to will increase.
Aerodynamics
Aerodynamics is the study of force and resulting of motion of objects through the air. In this area of aerodynamics using the same distance however the main thing to look at is the spin of the ball. The same question applies but more complicated, which is what velocity, angle and spin does need to go at in order to hit the net. The spin in the ball encounters air flow due to the spin there is one side of the ball where the direction of rotation and air flow are conflicting, and due to this conflicting directions the velocity of the air decreases and since the other side the rotation of the ball and air flow are not conflicting each other the velocity of the air
