“Dance me Outside” by W. P. Kinsella tells the story of little Margaret Wolfchild, an eighteen year old Indigenous mother who is brutally murdered by Clarence Gaskell at the Blue Quills Dance Hall (21). The film by the same name attempts to convey a similar message, but there are key differences such as overlooking the Gaskell’s trial. The broader scope of film allows for the story to be told through multiple perspectives, aiding in rounding out the characters and providing them with a realistic dynamism. In her book “Iskwewak Kah Yaw Ni Wahkomakanak” Janice Acoose criticizes Kinsella’s portrayal of Indigenous women, particularly a character from a different story of Kinsella’s named Linda Starr (69). Acoose asserts that Kinsella “exhibits

Benjamin Haggerty, or as many know him by “Macklemore”, is one rapper who uses his lyrics to inform and instruct his listeners to make positive decisions. Macklemore uses his music as an outlet of reflection especially regarding his past mistakes. One topic that many share a common understanding of is the dangers of drugs. Today, in especially rap music, drugs are glorified. Today, teens are constantly exposed to misleading images from the media and they truly do have a lasting impact on a young adult’s ideology.
According to Webster’s dictionary, “Audism is discrimination or prejudice against individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing,” but the idea of audism goes far beyond this definition. Audism also involves the notion that someone feels superior on their ability to hear. Furthermore, they believer that not being able to hear leads to a futile and miserable life. Thus, the belief that a hearing person is superior to a deaf person, and that a deaf person’s life is a miserable one leads to a negative stigma toward those unable to hear.
I that room there are 14 stained glass windows each of them represent a different topic. One of the biggest murals is called apotheosis. Also in this room there are 6 crystal chandeliers and wood desks. There are 1,000 lights in the chandeliers. (The Pennsylvania Capitol)
This juxtaposition allows the audience to see Adichie, herself as a women, which then appeals to their pathos as they can see the sexism that also oppresses her. As Adichie considers herself a part of the “we” in society, she is demonstrating that even women themselves are subject to being sexist and all of society is responsible for making change. The structure and diction of “Flawless” heavily differs to Adichie’s speech due to the nature of its genre. The song begins and ends with a recording, and contains the speech within the song.
Behind every song, there is a story that summarizes an event that happened to the singer. The story behind Taylor Swift’s song “Bad Blood” is all about breaking the trust and cheating. The music video for the song defined the theme of the words and their meaning, and what I liked the most is that both the lyrics and the video have the same story. In my own point of view, I think that the music video and lyrics complete the song and make the song different and have a special taste. Both the video which represents Taylor Swift’s reaction toward the unexpected betrayal and the words of the song delivered a life message.
Halfway between the U.P. and Tennessee is a small, welcoming town that goes by the name of Muncie, Indiana. This little redneck town is where my mother calls “home”. I’ve been there, to the town of Muncie, quite a few times. In fact I lived there for about six months when I was a year old. There’s long stretches of black, cracked asphalt that forms to the rolling hills and the curves of the farmlands.
Along with the creation of music videos, hip-hop’s popularity has soared and changed in many ways. Men and women are depicted in distinct and vivid ways in the media – particularly music videos – that may subconsciously affect our views of the norms of today’s society. That is, catchy songs and glamorous music videos that society thinks are harmless entertainment actually shape our worldview and can cause people to accept false impressions of women (Shrum & Lee, 2012). For example, as Sarnavka (2003) posits, women are victims of violence in society, as well as victims of violence in media (as cited in Bretthauer, Zimmerman, and Banning, 2007).

Introduction Roger’s and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music is arguably one of the most well known films that many can admit to watching at least once in their lifetime. People all around the world have found this musical inspiring, as it documents growth and hope amidst the horrors of World War II. This incredibly well written film is based on the story of the Von Trapp family who escaped Austria when the Nazis invaded it during the war. Part of what made this movie so interesting on so many different accounts was the music that accompanied the vivid and exciting scenes. Without music, many could agree that our world would be a sad, quiet, dull and depressing place.
As a society globalization has played a big role in shaping what it is today and will continue to shape and change the society. Globalization has become an important aspect in society that gets people to connect with one another. Music has become such an important part of globalization that critics have said that fusion music harms the authenticity of oriental music. I argue that fusion music brings diverse styles into oriental music, which enriches the quality of oriental music in many ways. It has been shown throughout history that the different styles of music have influenced others to incorporate their own style.
