Agatha Christie was born on September 15th , 1890 in Torquay, England. Agatha was the world's best selling crime novelist, selling over 2 billion novels and is featured in The Guinness Book of World Records. Agatha grew up with her mother, father; a successful American stockbroker, and two siblings, who were eleven and twelve years older than Agatha. As a child Agatha's had a extraordinary imagination, spending her days wondering the gardens with her imaginary friends, taking dance lessons, and playing with the family's pets. Her language was already well grounded by the age of 5 as she was able to teach herself to read and comprehend what she was reading. Berk stated that the techniques of sensative and caring adults promotes early language skills. (Berk, 2012) This is event by the nurturing she received from her parents. Berk (2012) also discusses “coalition of cues – perceptual, social, and linguistic, which shift in impotance with age” ( P. 249) I belive that the continues story telling and being read to had a major impact on Agatha's vocabulary, grammer, and comprehention, which aided in her ability to teach herself to read. There was also a great deal of social interaction for Agatha that not only included the company of other children her own age , but adults as well. This could have an additional impact on her emotional development by self regulating stratagies. In Agatha's case it doen't seem likely that her parents dismissed her feelings, Agatha probably felt important when she was allowed to interact at adult funtions. I think Agatha's emothions were positive ones, due to a combination of normal emothinal development, but were well structured due to her nurturing.
