Alan Jackson presents an excellent way to live life: “laid back ‘n low key.” Taking this approach to life, I rarely worry or stress about anything. I am not saying I simply let things happen. When presented with a potentially stressful situation, I do not allow it to disconcert me, but instead I approach it with the attitude that I will do my best, and leave it at that, not worrying about if I am good enough or what might be the outcome. We should do our part in all pursuits and then be done with it, do not waste energy fretting. With the perspective demonstrated by “Laid Back ‘N Low Key,” my life is noticeably more tranquil, enjoyable, and healthy. My easy going attitude makes daily life more tranquil. At times, I have found myself to be completely oblivious to the stresses of my peers. They incessantly worry about grades, GPA, class rank, test scores, and what colleges with accept them. I enjoy things many people cannot enjoy due to stress. Recently, my sister Jenna and I watched a film both of us had been wanting to see. Throughout the runtime of the movie, I was engrossed in the intriguing plot on the screen, my sister, however, was not. After the movie was over, I mentioned a key part of the film to her, but she did not know what I was talking about. Jenna spent the entire two hours of the movie brooding about her upcoming college applications and dance competition, causing her to miss the engaging movie. If she subscribed to my nonchalant manner this would not have been the case. My perspective allows me to enjoy each opportunity before me because I am fully present in the experience, not disconnected from what is happening. Movies, games, sports, and general leisure time are brought to a new level of enjoyment when we can set aside all forms of detachment, especially worry, and immerse ourselves into the
