Sweat dripping down from my face onto the scale as I stepped onto the cold metal the would determine my fate. I prayed and closed my eyes as it calculated my weight. 103 pounds! My wrestling coach shouted and cheered as I had made weight to wrestle in the 105 pound weight class. All of my friends were filled with excitement and I basked in the glory. Gaining 10 pounds is harder than it looks but I prevailed. I casually put my singlet and head gear back on and resumed my warm up to get ready for my big match. His name was Alex Bennett. He was a couple inches taller than me but i was a bit more muscular. He struck fear in my heart as he looked at me and chuckled. I began to worry because I have only recently started to wrestle and I only had about 3 weeks of practice but i was really strong for my size. I jogged with a pace of excitement but yet filled with fear. Alex casually walked with a dip as if his right leg was in some sort of pain. My eyes locked onto how he walked and i began to analyze him as a predator would to his prey. As I looked up we locked eyes again, he knew that I was looking at his leg and this raised his guard. We both approached the mat with the intent that we would win at all cost. The referee said “Shake hands and keep all feelings off the mat.”. As we shook hands I made sure to squeeze it enough to inflict some pain and fear into him because I couldn't win by strength alone. I used this tactic for all of my matches. People would have been in fear and wouldn't make the first move fearing that they would mess up and it would be the signature to their death
