Invention of the telephone The world has many inventions that have impacted the people. Some have been the first vehicle, first computer, the cotton gin, first telephone and much more. The telephone was one that was super important. Alexander Graham Bell was the inventor of the first ever telephone. Alexander Graham Bell worked at a school for the deaf. While he was working he attempted to invent a machine that would transmit sound by electricity. Alexander was born March 3, 1847 in Edinburgh Scotland. He was homeschooled until the age of 11, than attended Edinburgh’s Royal High School. After he finished high school he attended the University of London. His education was largely received through numerous experiments in sound and the furthering of his father’s work on visible speech for deaf. The telephone was a transmitted sound caused by electricity. It was used to communicate with people by talking to them. Before the phone was ever invented the people used letters, drum beats, and used fires to send signals. With the invention of the phone it stopped almost every other way of communicating. The telephone was a faster, easier, and clearer way to contact people. The telephone was granted the first official patent on March 7, 1876, however the official invention date was March 10, 1876. Alexander had 18 patents by himself and he shared 12 patents with collaborators. An invention that led up to the telephone was the telegraph. The telegraph was another way of communicating using electricity and magnetism. However this form of communication was not fast enough to keep up with growing communicators and new information.
