How much do you use your phone a day? Do you think you could live without it? When you walk into a restaurant, or a sporting event, almost everyone is on their phone. The average American spends 4 years of their life on their phone, that number was obviously way lower in the late 1800’s and the early 1900’s. The telephone from the start was a big impact on society and America for the reasons of, helping America communicate easier and faster, providing more jobs and also bringing America closer and closer over the years.
Alexander Graham Bell was born on March 3 1847 in Edinburgh, Scotland he was a scientist, inventor and engineer. He had always dreamed of creating something that would change the world or even just America. Bell’s mother and wife were deaf, he knew he wanted to create something that could help deaf people communicate. Bell studied the human voice and how sound waves and vibrations are transferred. Think about it, how do you think you would be able to communicate when you're in New York, and the person you're trying to communicate with is across the country in california? Without even having a telephone. Back when there weren't any telephones, they used smoke signals and letters to communicate across long distances. I personally couldn't imagine a world without cellphones, that's how much it impacts America. In the beginning the telephones main purpose was to help deaf people and find a way for them to communicate through talking with other people. Later people started to realize what a genius invention the telephone was and Alexander Graham Bell soon titled the telephone as a communication device for everyone.
