Alexander the Great was one of the greatest generals and leaders of our history and arguably the most powerful man during ancient times. He was born in 356 BC in Macedon and was the son of the another great general and leader of the Macedon the Philip II of Macedon. Macedon was considered uncivilized civilization until Philip came to power and persuaded the people to settle in cities and stop wearing sheepskins as he thought his people were better than that. Using money from the gold mines of Macedon he has developed the nation into the powerful military driven nation. His success led him to conquer the territories from Egypt, Persia, and all the way to India making his empire one of the largest the world has ever seen. No one truly knows what was his real motivation to conquer, but a lot of altars and temples from his era show same quote "at the end of the world". Perhaps he simply wanted to reach the end of the world, conquer, and unite the world. Conquest was not the only way Alexander has inspired his men and made enemies fear him. He was also good at propaganda, over the course of his short career he increasingly associated him self with divine. He believed he was a son of Zeus, son of god. This led to a lot his followers to embrace him even more and others to lose faith in him. Alexander had left one of the most powerful effects on the world during his era. He tried to unite the cultures that he conquered with the Greek culture, he also wanted to educate the people that he conquered. For example the Persians were considered as barbarians and he wanted to change that by building schools and educating them, as well as hiring them into professional
