Alfred Nobel was a chemist, engineer, innovator, entrepreneur, businessman, author, pacifist, and armaments manufacturer. He invented things that revolutionized huis time period such as dynamite. Although he invented many things and had over 350 patents he most famous and remembered for creating the Nobel Prize. When he left he went to Paris for a year to study chemistry. He then went to the U.S. For five years before returning to Russia. When he returned to Russia he started working in his father's factory making military equipment. In 1859 the war was over so there was no need for the factory. It went bankrupt within months. After this the Nobel family moved back to Sweden. After he moved back to Sweden he began experimenting with explosives. In 1864 a huge explosion in the Nobel family's Swedish factory killed five people, including Alfred's younger brother Emil. Nobel was greatly affected by this and he set out to develop a safer explosive. In 1867, he patented a mixture of nitroglycerin and an absorbent substance, producing what he named "Dynamite".

Dynamite was a very revolutionary invention because of the things it allowed mankind to do. Of course it had its dark side like most things. People were able to control explosion and have more powerful explosions during war. Not just during war though, it also helped with things like mining and construction which were the good things about
