Benjamin Franklin is not just a famous name, but created one of the most important things in today's day and age that 1.2 billion people around the world uses everyday. You may be thinking what could this be? In the following I will tell you some history on Benjamin Franklin, his importance, and what he did that 1.2 billion people use today. Benjamin is well known by his known name and is considered to be one of the smartest men in american history. Benjamin was born in Boston on January 17, 1706. Benjamin was the tenth son of Josiah Franklin, Benjamin’s father's. Benjamin’s mother is named Abiah Folger also she was the second wife for Jodiah. This helped him to do many things with his life. he worked a variety of different jobs. After working with his father in the candle shop his father saw ben had a passion for reading. Ben's older brother James owned a print shop so his father sent him to learn the trade. James ended up in jail for a disagreement among the clergy. During this time Ben ran the print shop for james. Upon James’s release from jail, James was not grateful to Ben for keeping the paper going. Instead he kept harassing his younger brother and administering beatings from time to time. Franklin’s retirement allowed him to spend the rest of his life to studying science and devising inventions such as the lightning rod (http://www.history.com/news/11-surprising-facts-about-benjamin-franklin). This is where he had a theory that lightning had electricity. His theory was correct! Being the founder of electricity was the biggest event in ben’s life and what he is most famous for. This is also what 1.2 billion people use in the world today. Although he was most famous for this invention he still did many other jobs that made him a very successful
