People have moved to Michigan for various reason, but it all comes down to survival. Summer Heights High is an Australian TV mockumentary mini-series; created in 2007, focusing on the 3 main characters: Jonah, Mr G and Ja’mie, all three are played by the creator of the show, Chris Lilley. Each characters are depicted through the use of satirical elements, such: stereotypes, hyperbole, irony, juxtaposition and sarcasm. Chris Lilley, uses satirical devices to poke fun at the modern stereotypes of the education system to create comedy and show how these stereotypes are unnecessary as most of the time, they are incorrect. Compare/Contrast Essay Both texts “All summer In A Day” and “Harrison Bergeron” share the idea that some people get treated differently than others. For example, In “All Summer In A Day” the kids get jealous of Margaux so they take matters into their own hands, and put her in a closet. The kids are jealous, because where they live they can only see the sun every seven years; but Margaux moved there from earth where she saw the sun everyday so they are mean to her since she has seen the sun more.
The short stories “The White Circle” and “All Summer in a Day,” share a similar concept of how you should be careful who you trust, they could turn on you in the end. “The White Circle” focuses on a mutual hatred between Anvil and Tucker where's “All Summer in a Day” the other children don’t really turn on Margot until they lock her in the closet again. “All Summer in a Day” is about a group of young school children who live on Venus. One of the students’ names is Margot. She moved from Earth to Venus, wheres all the other children have lived on Venus their entire lives.
One similarity emerging in both stories is that the antagonist are jealous of the protagonists because they are different. In “All summer in a day,” the children are jealous of Margot and her memory of the sun beating on her skin. They all sat at the window beaming like a full moon. "You’re lying, you don’t remember ! " The children would often say to Margot as she tried to explain what the bright sphere.
That theme is adults need to pay more attention to the kids they are in charge of because if not unwanted things can happen. This theme is seen throughout the short stories in lots of places a couple of examples of this theme in Zero hour is when the dad gets home from work and thinks Mink is just playing hide and seek or when Mink tells her mom that she is summoning aliens and the mom thinks it's just a kids game. Some examples of this theme in All Summer in a day are when Margot got shoved by a classmate when the teacher was not paying attention, or when the teacher walked away and she was locked in the closet while the sun was out for the 1 time in 7 years. This supports my claim because it really shows the similarities between these 2 stories the themes of the book is like the backbone it really holds it together and keeps it interesting if there were really bad themes then there would be nothing to take away from the book and really learn from the story which makes it a lot more interesting and exhilarating. Since the themes are so important and both of the short stories share them this makes the 2 all the more
In All Summer in a Day, Ray Bradbury uses vivid description, similes, and symbolism to show the desire to see something you’ve never seen before. The story is about a girl named Margot who comes from Earth, where she saw the sun all the time. Then she moves to planet Venus where the sun comes out every seven years. She tells her school classmates about how she remembers the sun and they start to bully her because they are jealous. The author uses a lot of description, symbolism, and similes to show the desire of the kids to see the sun.
In both “If Only We Had Taller Been” and “All Summer in a Day” you see that both stories talk about how the people want something that is out of reach and that if you want something that bad you need to work hard for it if it is something that you can achieve. One way Bradbury wrote the two stories different is in “If Only We Had Taller Been” you have to have perseverance to be able to orbit mars you also have to work hard to train for it and what to do if something goes wrong. While in “All Summer in a Day” Margot had to have patience to wait for the sun to come out and when it finally did she wasn't able to see it so she had to wait even longer. In All Summer In a Day by Ray Bradbury talks about people living on venus. In the passage venus is always raining and that affects the character in the story. In PG 155 It say that venus is always raining it 's always dark and gloomy. Forest’s being washed out, and high and low tides.
In life we can all relate to the feeling of longing for something. In All Summer in a Day, Ray Bradbury’s characters’ lives are clouded with rain and the only see the sun once every seven years. Bradbury uses metaphors, emotions, and repetition to express the sun’s meaning of hope to the main character, Margot, and the children of rocket men and women on Venus. Metaphors and emotions are used to help the reader relate to the connection with the sun. He describes the sun and the rain using metaphors, and uses the children’s emotions to help further the idea.
In All Summer in a Day, Ray Bradbury uses symbolism, similes and plenty of vivid description to show the hope the children have for a brighter future and their need for change. First of all the author uses the rain to symbolize many things, while at the same time dreaming is used to symbolize hope, and the sun is a symbol portraying each child’s bright future. Similes are also extremely important as they show the desperate hope and need for a bright future. Furthermore with these types of author's craft Ray Bradbury uses repetition. However it does not go along with hope as well as the other pieces of author’s craft that have been mentioned previously.

Imagine having to wait seven years for the sun to come out again, but only for a few hours and then disappearing again for another seven years. Well for the kids of Venus, that is typical life. Ray Bradbury's All Summer in a Day uses a variety of author's craft such as imagery, similes and metaphors to show readers the childrens deep need for freedom away from the rain that consumes their lives.

In “All Summer in a Day” the children/characters try to “reach” for the sun, which they are so close to getting.
