Being different doesn't mean you have to be treated differently, right? Because of this conflict, right as the sun comes out, well after 7 years, just because Margot had experienced the sun, her classmates locked her up. Because of the mean thing they had done, she missed the sun. They then realize what they had done. The internal is that she is different because she would live on earth and experience the sun, that conflict was not external. In the novel “All summer in a day” by Ray Bradbury, The rain was constant, for a great amount of 7 years. Everyone else was used to it, but one person was not, well at least they were, but they had experienced the warmth of the sun. This is internal because this is all between her and not other people. To support that there is also an external conflict, the author states, “Margot stood alone. She was a very frail girl who looked as if she had been lost in the rain for years and the rain had washed out the blue from her eyes and the red from her mouth and the yellow from her hair.” The author shows all about her personal characteristics, and all these problems are her OWN problems, it is not external, but is an internal. In addition, to support this point, in the text, the author states, “They surged about her, caught her up, and bore her, protesting, and then pleading, and then crying, back into a tunnel, a room, a closet, where they slammed and locked the door. They stood looking at the door and saw it tremble from her beating and throwing herself against it. They heard her muffled cries. Then, smiling, they turned and went out and back down the tunnel, just as the teacher arrived.” The author shows this point because Margot was not really happy for this situation, she was protesting back. This tells us that they had locked her from something important. In addition, the part where it said they were smiling, means that they wanted to do it because they were jealous.
