Over 3.2 million students are victims of bullying each year (Andrea, 2014) Throughout various schools many children are faced with getting bullied and do not have the courage to speak up about it. In the short story and movie, “All Summer in a day” by the author Ray Bradbury and director Eric Kaplan, demonstrates how a young girl has moved to Venus. The girl struggles to get friends, since some of the children see her different. A few students are friends with her, but the others dislike her because she had the privilege to see the sun. Both the movie and the short story have a theme of people not being perfect. The theme was shown as people being imperfect because William was unkind to Margot and the classmates felt bad for Margot.

For example, the director demonstrated when the classmates asked what William had done with Margot, and he responded saying, “It was only a joke” (Kaplan) The students were wondering where Margot was at during when the sun came out and they all were playing outside. The students blamed William for putting Margot in the closet. The students acted as if they had no part in William’s plan, but the students had a part on it because when he put Margot in the closet nobody said anything. As a result, Margot was not the only one to be imperfect, but the students as well.
Throughout the short story and the movie, “All Summer in a day” it demonstrated that no one is perfect and everyone is unique. It also showed that people need to respect the way others do things and not make fun. The students understood that there actions toward Margot were troublesome and they should have done something on that matter, the short story and the film’s theme of people not being perfect was clear. Therefore, humans beings are not perfect and they should stand up for other people, who are getting bullied or laughed at. People can take manners in their own
