Robin and her mother were against the world but all of that changed after they went to ‘visit’ a friend. The visit turned out to be permanent because her mother decided to get married. Robin stood up for herself against the school bully. Bryan was making fun of Robin’s race. Robin had enough of being bullied, she tells Bryan that if he bothers her again she will tell the teacher. Bryan feels kinda scared of Robin because Robin came and defended herself. Robin had to practice what she was going to say before saying it, so she didn’t say anything wrong. “This time I was ready. Bryan yu ah mean you Batheh me again, I tell the Teacherh about yu. Okay?” (100). As a result, Bryan stops making fun of Robin’s race. Bryan doesn’t bother her anymore. Robin continues to stand up for herself with her mother. Robin tells her mother how she feels about playing the piano in front of people. Robin’s mother forced her to play in front of the In-Laws. Robin’s mom was telling her to put more emotion into it, but Robin had enough of it, so she yelled at her mother. Robin yelled at her mother because she told her that she didn’t want to play in front of people. But instead, her mother told her to play like she didn’t care if other people were looking at her.
