Over the past several years of my life, my engagement in volunteering activities covered multiple interests and passions. Throughout these experiences, I was taught that in order to be a leader, a passion was needed. Passion, more than everything, is what creates the most prominent leaders of all. The ability to work with various cultures is something that I have always looked forward to and was extremely passionate about. As a minority, being able to share unique perspectives with similar and different cultures is always rewarding. It is a complete honour to be capable of doing such thing so effortlessly.
Whether it may be for children or adults, I find myself to be compassionate and tolerant to all age groups and to all backgrounds. It is for that reason that I decided to volunteer and help as a teacher assistant at the Saudi School of London Ontario which is provided under the Saudi House Club in London, Ontario. This school is provided to hundreds of students from kindergarten through grade 12 as a “Saturday school” to learn Arabic. As a fluent Arabic speaker myself, this was the perfect opportunity to become a leader and use my language advantage to connect to others on a personal level while maintaining my leadership role. This meant that I was required to properly communicate with older adults and discuss things many different areas. Speaking to so many different personalities was definitely challenging at first. However, I managed and learned how to tackle this problem from different angles until I became ultimately comfortable with speaking to older age groups. As a volunteer, this was a significant responsibility that required exceptional people skills along with time management
