My high school experiences with the Junior State of America (JSA) and Young Democrats have led me to pursue a career in politics and public service. Through JSA, I saw the power of staying informed and voicing my opinions in our democratic society. I learned that my opinions matter and that I can use them to create meaningful changes in our society. Through Young Democrats, I discovered politics as an outlet to help others and better our communities. Politicians are able to assist their constituents and advocate for the issues they believe in. In the world, there are two things that can instantly change our lives: government and an act of God. I want to be a part of the government so that I can make sure the changes we are making are meaningful and create more good than harm. Through my studies, I will gain a better understanding of how our intricate government functions as well as learn about the complex issues that plague our society. I want to study how previous politicians dealt with their adversities such as the Great Depression and Civil Rights and apply my knowledge in resolving contemporary issues. Furthermore, I will learn about America's political preferences. Through this knowledge, I will be able to better represent all Americans when I enter the political arena. After college, I plan to spend a couple of years pursuing a law degree. With a J.D., I will be able to learn about the intricate laws that govern our nation. With this information, I will have a better understanding of which laws we, as a nation, are missing and how to close loopholes in existing laws. I will also be able to make sure that the legislation I promote is consistent with the Constitution and the ideals of our Founding
