Is the United States education system the best system in comparison to the rest of the world? There are positive aspects to the system, but there is also negative ones that can be improved if the United States took in consideration the way other countries run their education system. Students should be taught life skills that will help them make the right decisions and help their life be less stressful and keep their mental state healthy. Instead of allowing students to have the mindset that the subjects they learn are useless, schools should be teaching them the way their studies will help them with their futures. Ester Laushway suggests, “Much easier to pinpoint, and far more widespread than modifications in the aims of education, are changes in the curriculum, which is the aspect that has evolved the most throughout Europe” (Laushway 1). The goal of the new French reforms is mostly to help students become more successful and be able to qualify for a job after their education. Tutoring is strongly recommended and is offered two hours a week. Schools require students to take more years of foreign language at a younger age in order to expand their minds. There are also changes in French exams. Exams are now being used as tools to help a student improve rather than testing for a grade. Students are being tested on general knowledge and skills rather than on specific subjects. As stated before, students have to take a test in order to enter universities or to enter the next grade. This process is seen as a process of elimination where students who take education seriously are moving forward and the less academic students repeat another year in order to gain more knowledge.
