The Middle East, renowned for its instability and growing threats of terrorism from the region, has attracted the Americans’ attention for the past decade since 9-11. The United States shifted its national interests towards resolving issues in the Middle East. As the only superpower in the world, the US carries tremendous responsibility for foreign policy and global negotiations. However, several groups greatly influence the foreign policy making. The four American groups that significantly impact the foreign policy making in the Middle East are the executive branch, legislative branch, media, government departments and agencies. They have the ability to alter and manipulate information of prominent events. For example, the media did not conceal bombing of the Twin Towers during 9-11. Instead, they vividly broadcasted the detriments and destruction and described the tragedy in way that stirred up the emotions of the people. The media’s slight manipulation of information was able to reach numerous people. This is significant because they not only constructed American’s fear of terrorism, but also uproared Americans and led the country to immediately strengthen its national security. They were a major factor that led the United States to alter its foreign policy in the Middle East and invade Afghanistan. Moreover, the media also possess the power to persuade their audiences to believe in a certain perspective. Domestic and international issues are not only favored by one side of the public and the media are crucial in this case. For instance, the New York Times has liberal stance towards majority of domestic and international issues. In the case of the Iran Nuclear Deal, the New York Times articles favored the agreement and praised President Obama to compromise with Iran that the United States struggled with. The bias of the articles, through the use of liberal language and tone, can reach a vast numerous of the public and shift its views to support President Obama’s long term goals and objectives of the Iran Nuclear Deal. President Obama organizes and directs the departments and agencies that play a part in the foreign policy process. With the Department of Homeland Security and intelligence agencies, the President has tremendous power in the world along with its military power. For example, the President utilizes embassies to maintain foreign relations and conduct negotiations with foreign officials throughout the world. Embassies are essential because they are President's assistances for creating international agreements with major nations. Moreover, department and agencies quicken the process of foreign policy making because the traveling to different countries is unnecessary in order to create foreign relations. This way, the United States is able to cast political influence to other countries throughout the world efficiently. Furthermore, the CIA is able to inform the President with accurate informations from other countries to conduct international operations. For example, back in the 1960’s, President John F. Kennedy was notified about the presence of the missiles in Cuba through the use of intelligence. This allowed the President to react quickly and perceived the missiles as a threat to national security. The CIA and intelligence are still effective today. For instance, if the Iranians break any agreements of the Iran Nuclear Deal, the United States can quickly conduct military operation
