It is also a widely known company and is the most widely used pharmaceutical company in the US. CVS Health is in the Drug Retail Industry. Major competitors of CVS Health are Humana Inc, Walgreens, and Pharmerica Corporation.
In 1968, American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) formerly known as the American Association of Physician Assistants was established in North Carolina by the first graduate students of Duke University Physician Assistant program. Since then PA profession has grown to tremendous heights. The mission statement of the AAPA is, “To ensure the professional growth, personal excellence, and recognition of the physician assistants, and to support their efforts to enable then to improve the quality, accessibility, and cost-effectiveness of patient-centered health care.” The physician assistant profession has shown remarkable growth since its first PAs started practice in 1967.
Creating Heart Healthy Towns is a great program sponsored by the Heart Foundation. A program that funds the community to engage on a healthy lifestyle. This program was initiated to encourage communities to be active, eat and be healthy, whilst at the same time having fun. This was organized to raise awareness about the alarming amount of deaths due to heart disease, also known as cardiovascular disease. This has become one of the major death causes in Australia.
I admire the mission statement of the PAS program, as I am a firm believer in providing excellent care to all populations. A Physician Assistant, as well as any other medical professional, should provide compassionate care to those needing it, despite their financial status, race, disabilities, and more. As a future PA, I want to advocate for all populations and let their voices be heard, inside and outside of the walls of medicine. One reason I am compassionate about advocating for my patients is because I understand what it is like to be in their shoes.
The number one killer in the United States today is heart disease or also known as cardiovascular disease (U.S. National Library of Medicine, 2015). As death rates begin to rise due to cardiovascular disease, in 1948 the Framingham Heart Study became a joint project of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and Boston University to pinpoint the most common factors that play a role in cardiovascular disease and strokes (Framingham Heart Study, 2015). Over several years, the Framingham study has identified several risks factors that are believed to increase the likelihood of a person being diagnosed with cardiovascular disease. These risk factors include high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, smoking, obesity, diabetes, and physical

I am proud to say that I have volunteered with the American Heart Association for the last ten years. I am passionate about their mission and have formed many meaningful relationships with administrators, physicians and local business owners that have helped me in my professional life as well. The American Heart Association was founded in 1924 by a group of six cardiologists. Today, this volunteer based organization has more the 22.5 million volunteers and supporters. The mission of this organization is building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke (American Heart Association, 2015).
The American Hospital Association's (AHA) Vision statement says that "The AHA vision of a society of healthy communities, where all individuals reach their highest potential for health. " Its mission is "To advance the health of individuals and communities. The AHA leads, represents and serves hospitals, health systems, and other related organizations that are accountable to the community and committed to health improvement" (aha.org, 2016). The rights that are emphasized in the AHA's "Patient Care Partnership" are the full expectation that patients should experience during their hospital stay.
In my community, I donate to St Jude’s Hospital for cancer research. Almost half of my family has had some kind of cancer. Donating to St. Jude’s Hospital helps me give back to people who have already lost their lives, are undergoing treatment, or anyone who might have cancer in the future. In my 7th grade year, another student and I raised money to help find a cure for Type One Diabetes. The money that we raised went to an organization called “Beyond Type One” so that they can use it to perform scientific experiments to find a cure.
Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear. As this anonymous quote elucidates, fear acts as a barrier that essentially traps us in our comfort zone, limiting our experiences and holds one back from achieving his or her potential. In The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, the protagonist must overcome his own fear through obstacles that he comes across as fear diverts one from their purpose. To begin with, Santiago displays his fears throughout the book, and these fears are what hinders him from achieving his Personal Legend. Santiago displays an immense terror of failure.
Heart disease has also seen progress in finding treatments that help them survive and live longer, more productive lives. Education people on the signs of heart disease has been a major player in the reduction of deaths. At this time, there is no cure for Alzheimer’s, and there is no known cause for it. Some researchers have set up clinical trials that test new interventions or drugs to prevent, detect and treat disease. Clinical studies have also found other aspects of care, such as improving quality of life and making the struggle of the disease easier to get through.
Unfortunately Heart Disease has been the number one cause of death in the United States for about 80 years. There are about 610,000 deaths from heart disease and usually happens between the ages 45 and 54. Though Heart Disease tends to effect the older generation more often it is still a problem that needs to be addressed in all age groups. There are steps that need to be taken in order to successfully increase the number of healthy Americans at every stage of life.
AMERICAN RED CROSS “The door that nobody else will go in at, seems to always swing open widely for me ” - Clara Barton. The American Red Cross has had an Impact not only on American Citizens, but people all over the world. This charity offers a variety of assistance such as blood donation, food, and overall aid to individuals who have experienced calamity from war to natural disasters. Due to this charity’ long history of helping victims, I believe that people should take the time to contribute supplies and other resources to the charity.
More than 95% of people participate in donating to charity, and in the past twenty years poverty has been cut in half. This is good news, however there are still millions of people in poverty and world hunger. But hunger is only one thing humans living in poverty have to deal with. Another problem people in poverty have to deal with is disease, and health. 270,000,000 children have no access to healthcare (http://www.care.org/work/poverty/child-poverty/facts ), and 1 in 5 children lack safe drinking water
