Despite advancements in workplace equality, women of color continue to face systemic disadvantages in the workforce due to intersecting forms of discrimination based on race, gender, and often socio-economic status. Wage gaps have a significant impact on women of color, resulting in limited opportunities for career advancement, wage disparities, affordable quality education, and enduring barriers to achieving full professional potential. Another article called “Lack of Black Female Diversity Within The Cybersecurity Workforce” by Eric Prestion, states, “African American women may have limited access to resources and networks that can then advance in cybersecurity.” Access to professional networks is crucial for career advancement. color may face barriers to entering or being accepted into these networks due to systemic biases or exclusionary practices. Overall, limited access to networks can perpetuate disparities in employment opportunities and career advancement for women of color, making it crucial to address systemic barriers and create inclusive networking environments. Although, some may say that with big movements to help give equality to people of color and women in giving them equal rights. A movement that gave opportunity such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which states “ The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin. Provisions of this civil rights act forbid discrimination on the basis of gender, as well as, race in hiring, promoting, and firing”. With such laws, help people of color gain leadership roles and achieve higher education. Over time, people believe that this can help lower the disadvantage gap people of color have. Although this might seem true in helping reveal opportunities for people of color over time, this change lacks to help represent women in the workplace.
