Therapist met with the client for individual therapy at school. Therapist did a check in regards to symptoms, mood, thoughts, emotions, coping skills, the goals that he achieved, and behaviors since the last session. Therapist processed the client's negative thoughts. Therapist used open-ended questions to address any concerns the client may have. Therapist encouraged the client to keep motivated during the stressful time, especially when he has negative thoughts, which stats usually with negative thoughts, argue with his sisters, or with his aunt, or if he has been triggered by any internal or external thoughts.
Secondly, therapists have to engage in reflective practice before labelling clients as “non-compliant” because clients who are deemed “unmotivated” may be dealing with difficulties like illness and loss. Thus, therapists ought to constantly remain attentive and prudent to explore the factors that are hindering clinical progress. Thirdly, therapists are not suggested to give clients advice regarding their progress in an intervention. Instead, they should encourage clients to take control of the process and respect clients’
Alternating treatments design allows for the evaluation of the results of two or more independent variables (treatments) on the same behavior. This design is important to educators and clinicians that are concerned with which interventions work most effectively. The alternating treatments design has also been referred to multielement design (Ulman & Sulzer-Azaroff, 1975). It has also been mistakenly called the simultaneous treatments design (Kazdin & Hartmann, 1978). Treatments can be altered within sessions, different times of day, or even different days.
During this roundtable discussion, I realized that the relationship between a therapist and a client can become very complicated; especially when a client becomes defensive. I think that as a therapist, it would be difficult to react appropriately to challenging statements made by a client. Personally, I would feel the need to become defensive when responding to a client. Although through this exercise, I learned that the client will challenge the therapist in attempt to reflect the attention on the therapist.
Therapy needs to build up .this has to be earned. Client feelings have to be acknowledged and know the limits of client emotional state. It is very important to explain to the client how the process of therapy works .Also any assessments; process has to be explained to client in a clear manner in order for the client to able able to make decisions. This trustworthiness is built in time.
That being said, the therapist should always
The communication between therapist and client and how the client would like their life to be, more focus on the future. Staying in the future, is the ability to look at what is ahead, instead of on the past. The therapist should be asking question such as, who, what, why, where when and of course how towards the client’s future as it changes. Lastly, focusing on perceptions. Perception is the thoughts and feelings that are behaviors that have built up over time.
The client won’t feel so alone and like they are the only one who is struggling with a particular issue. Accepting the client for the situation they are in being nonjudgmental is also extremely
Through me becoming aware of the situation it enables me to maintain a professional healthy relationship and bias with the client. Therapy will allow me to learn how to observe, acknowledge confront, and deal with the situation ethically, and right away when it starts to happen. It can also allow me to identify and explore my blind spots that I am confronted with through my clients, and will allow me to help set my personal life away from work, and help succeed professionally. I believe that through personal therapy, it will enable me to engage in my own personal self-awareness and overall well-being, and decrease the possibility of burnout that comes with the profession. Therapy will also help develop my career goal and aspirations in a positive way in helping me
Being attentive when communicating might influence the client’s viewpoint and success in therapy. I believe these three methods could help a client with better understanding their issues and how to
To this theory, diagnosis and other measures are not found to be important compared to addressing issues on being. Furthermore, there are different settings that the existential therapist may use; Brief therapy is a technique used for clients who are able to make a commitment to being an active client. This approach is used when the therapist and client have both agreed that this type of therapy is right for this case and even though it requires more structuring to complete this short-term session, it is possible that the client would need to come back for further treatment when some issues do not have time to be addressed. Another technique is the application of group counseling when the client’s commitment is a life long journey of searching

Therapists must access their own internal process such as their feelings, attitudes and moods. Therapists’, who are not receptive to the awareness of their flow of thoughts and feelings, will not be able to help clients be aware of theirs (Kahn, 1997, p. 40). Though congruence does not mean that therapists have to share personal issues with clients, a therapist must not conceal their inner process from the client, and not be defensive but transparent (Kahn, 1997, p. 41). By being open sometimes a therapist learns more not only about their client but about themselves
Which I feel, does not build a wall between patient and therapist, therefore, allowing the patient to be more comfortable with the therapist. Another contrast from the classroom was the session durations. In lectures and labs, all professors give examples in which therapists spend an hour with each patient and perform electronic documentation. However, this clinic only gives 45-minute slots per patient and still performs paper documentation. Which means that the therapist and patients must be very punctual and efficient to remain within the time parameters.
