When researching the different types of terrorist groups in America some people seem to think that almost all terrorist groups are violent because those groups catch the media's attention, but the reality of that assumption is quite different. America is home to a variety of terrorist groups including both the violent and nonviolent types, which target different ideologies and other groups. It is true that there are different terrorist groups that tend to target people of a specific gender, race, religion, and more. This nonviolent organization is known as PETA, which stands for the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals, and this extremist group was created in 1980 with the goal to establish and defend the rights of all animals. This organization uses the simple principle that animals are not to be abused and the animals are not able to defend themselves against being used for experiments, food, clothing, entertainment or abuse in any other way (All about peta, 2022). PETA has the belief that animals have rights and that the animals deserve to have their best interests taken into consideration. PETA has spoken about the main focus of their goal as a nonprofit organization and that is to accomplish the idea that all beings have rights, which includes humans and nonhumans alike. PETA decided to be nonviolent and is known as a non-violent advocacy organization that continues to maintain their origin of no violent acts against anyone, including human or nonhuman. It is important to note that no one has been killed through animal rights activity within the United States (All about peta, 2022). Surprisingly, when learning about who is injured, it is the animal protectionists who are harmed and this includes supporters of animal protections and park rangers who have been shot or beaten to death because of their work with animals (All about peta, 2022). This advocacy group is known for holding protests to spread their message but the group protests peacefully because the organization does not agree with the use of violence. This is undoubtedly surprising, especially when compared to other groups who do not protest
