We are their voice The ASPCA, founded in 1866, was the first humane society created in America. The ASPCA’s ultimate goal is: “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.” (ASPCA, “The Mission Statement”). Being a nonprofit organization, the ASPCA works to accomplish its mission by caring for pets, providing life saving relief for animals that fall to the victim of animal cruelty. The ASPCA utilizes its webpage to encourage people to partake in the organization either by donating or adopting. The content and framework of the ASPCA’s webpage is constructed to primarily persuade visitors to contribute money. A closer look of the page shows the precise planning of the design component of the webpage. Visitors cannot avoid the large rectangle across the top of the page containing a combination of two different pictures. The two revolving pictures contains a large orange link that reads Donate Now. The ASPCA utilizes a webpage filled with emotionally charged pictures and rhetoric that fuels the fight against animal cruelty. They use emotions and attachments that portrays animal cruelty and how it represents a larger portion of its communication. The ASPCA takes the first step in encouraging people to genuinely care about the organization’s cause by showing the pitiful, pathetic photographs and videos of abused animals making eye contact with the viewer. The more people know, the more they are going to care, and the more contributions that are made—and the ASPCA does a good job showing that it understands
