“Artistic Media Artwork and Statement” Julie Hernandez (LIVE OAK)
During this class I have explored and discovered many things about myself and art. It is interesting how the purpose for this course is to discuss art, but emotions and life experiences have been revealed. Although, I might not know my classmates personally, I feel as if I do. Throughout this course we have written about many different types of art, and how they relate to us and what we can interpret. Now, we are putting our drawings on display so they can be interpreted. The basis of this painting came from chapter 4.2, Spiritually and Art, this painting represents a very emotional and dark time in my life. A time that I try to avoid speaking about, because it reminds me of a hurtful time.

About 6 years ago, my cousin had a terrible accident that resulted in him being admitted into the hospital, because he had suffered a stroke. During this time the doctors had place him in a medically-induced comma without consent from the family. Although this decision was in order to prevent any more damage to the brain and reduce possible relapse of a stroke, the doctors nor the family had any idea that he would never wake up from it. Throughout this process I remember praying, pleading, crying out to God, please save my cousin he is a good man. I felt desperate and the only thing I could think about is, my God will save my cousin. But NO, that same week his wife decides to take him off life support, in order to donate his organs. This was not just important to my cousin but to his wife as well, because he wanted to save another person’s life by donating his organs, just like someone saved his son, by a transplant, when he had
