I want to be an officer for the Wildcat Regiment for many reasons, to improve our sound and marching ability, to seek further leadership experience and to be not only a strong leader for the band, but to also provide empathy and lend a helping hand to those in need. Having 6 plus years of playing the Tenor Saxophone, i will share my knowledge and use my past mistakes as a guide for those who are struggling and for my section as a whole. As a former officer, i understand the level of responsibility and hard work that comes with the position, and i also recognize the amount of patience that i will need to have to become a better leader. My greatest strengths as a leader include, the ability to differentiate between the time to have fun and when it's time to buckle down and get things done. As a leader, I am assertive and can make sure people will know their place without causing any unnecessary conflict within the band. As an officer, i will help get the band prepared for state by putting in multiple hours of 1 on 1 sessions with members that might be struggling or lacking in correct marching techniques; this will hopefully become a staple for future officers of the band and would really improve the footwork and playing ability of future members. Being a member of the band, i have put in multiple hours of my time to practice and perfect the music that is given to me. I have never missed a practice or rehearsal unless my absence was caused by a medical or family issues. I
