This essay evaluates Debra Thompson's 1993 publication "Getting Hired: Strategies for Job Searching That Work! A Resource Guide for Early Childhood and Elementary Education Majors" to other publications from the past decade. Deborah Thompson's essay "Getting Hired" provides a reference guide for early childhood and elementary education majors seeking jobs. Thompson's paper is compared to two other sources in this essay: Cannata's "The Role of Social Networks in the Teacher Job Search Process" and Baird and Parayitam's "Employers' Views of the Importance of Skills and Competencies College Graduates Need to Get Hired." It will highlight the similarities and differences between these sources to determine if Debra Thompson’s view are still relevant in today’s world.
