The Introduction
Culture is perceived as the scheme of values (morals, ethics, concepts of right and wrong), beliefs (philosophy, religion), practices, behavioral forms and survival approaches shared by a collective, or society (country, nation), over time and conveyed by several means through generations. Civilization or race, religion, as well as language, are dynamic elements of philosophy — although some carriers of the culture may be racially mixed and may speak a dialect — or even a different language from the majority population belonging to the culture system. All the components of the structure are in continual vigorous interaction. We separate the elements of the system mainly for analytical and heuristic purposes only.
Culture is spread to the majority of the population over time through social, political, educational, and economic institutions and their activities. Institutions consolidate social subsistence for survival and safety of its members and constituents. Institutions are supposed to exemplify and apply beliefs and values of its members.
The rich Philippine tradition can be experienced, not only in textbooks and museums but also in beautifully preserved ancient sites across the country.
