Recommended: Essay of mexican art

For report 5, I decided to choose Vicente Fernandez interpretation of, “México Lindo y Querido “ because Vicente Fernandez is my mother’s favorite artist. As I was growing up, Vicente Fernandez was an artist my mother always played around me, so I also chose him because I am familiar with his singing style of voice. The song, “México Lindo y Querido” translates to ‘Mexico, beautiful and beloved’ the name of the song refers to pride of Mexico, so the song is characterized as a nationalistic song. The composer of, “México Lindo y Querido “ was written by Chucho Monge. Vicente Fernandez has excellent control of exhalation, he releases the sound in one breath. Throughout, the song his control of his breath makes me believe he is using his chest …show more content…

When Vicente Fernandez is singing, he has different vocal formation, he uses a lot of back vowels; the A and the O. In the lyrics of the song, the ending of each line in the stanza is elongated, so the sound is carried away in the melody of the song. When I heard the song play the melody, the song sounded passionate because of all the sentiment Vicente Fernandez achieves through his voice. In addition, the genre of this song is labeled as a nationalistic song, so the lyrics of the song also make the song sound passionate for his hometown of Mexico. The lyrics to the song also produce imagery. In one of the stanza, the lyrics say “May they bury me in the mountains, at the foot of the maguey fields, and may that land cover me, that is the birthplace of honorable men.” These lyrics to me produce an image of my parents hometown in Mexico because there is a town near that has maguey fields. As I was reading and listening to the lyrics I was able to picture the scenery of a maguey field in my head because I have seen a field of magueys before.
