Critique The environment is being altered due to the needs of man. With the expanding industries, it seems impossible to save nature, but this daunting task can be accomplished. Mike Adams’ article, “Humans vs. the Environment- A Thought Experiment,” expresses both positive and negative views towards the environment. He argues that man is the main cause for the destruction of nature, and that man must be restricted in order to save the world. Although I agree with Adams that the environment is being destroyed due to man, I cannot accept his overall conclusion that man must pay a price for the saving of nature. Most people do not want to acknowledge that the environment is near destruction, but this demolition is a fact. Kyle Ayers’ article, “The Environmental Message Behind ‘The Lorax’,” shows how a simple Dr. Seuss book asserts the same views on corporate businesses and the destruction they cause on the environment. Ayers states, “Respect for the environment and all living creatures will help us preserve the planet for ourselves and future generations. And that respect can live in harmony with economic progress” (1). This view does not conjure up negative thoughts because it does not require a restriction on man. While Adams uses scare tactics to suggest his idea, Ayers presents a more appealing idea because his view requires harmony to exist between the growing industries and the land. The best way to save the environment is to allow man and nature to live equally together, and not put restrictions on
