In “Tracking is an Assault on Liberty” by Nicholas Carr claim that companies who use online services, collects personal information to determine type of advertisements and services that personalize us. We give out information without knowing what was taken from us. The internet is not an anonymous place that everyone think, where our usernames, credit cards info, search history, and where we live. The internet isn’t a anonymous places anymore, “... disclose details not only about our jobs. Hobbies, families, politics and health, but also about our secrets, fantasies, even our peccadilloes.” all stored in a company server. That is very true, but the good thing they have to keep in very locked up for anyone who doesn’t have access can not abuse it. I find some of this is a little bias on were Carr doesn’t mention how companies protect their data of valuable information. I agree with Carr that the internet is not anonymous as people would think, but there are ways to make in very anonymous if you are very careful not giving out to many information by using a Virtual Private Network (VPN). There really no good thing Carr mention about the internet, it kinda feel like it is missing something. I really agree with Harper that the internet is fueled by people information to help marketing decided what a good produce to a certain group of people. “Marketers will pay more to reach you if you are likely to use their products or services”. I find this true because there are lots of funding for paying Youtubers with the ads revenues and it kinda supires me that ads make a big impact when I don’t find them interesting at all. I really don’t think I like it that much where companies would collect information from us that does not allow us to choice what piece we want to
