Capital punishment or commonly know as the death penalty is a process where a person is put to death by the state government as a punishment for a crime that has thought to be extremely disturbing. The actual enforcement given by the state is an execution. Crimes that result in a death penalty are known to be capital crimes or as some know capital offenses. The term capital comes from the Latin capitalis, literally "regarding the head”. Capital punishment in the past has been practiced by many societies, as a punishment for criminals, and political or religious reasons. Through out history, the carrying out of the death sentence was often accompanied by torture, and executions were most often made public so the public would be able to see. Many individuals see the death penalty as a huge problem in today’s society because it makes the world look barbaric and some say conducting these events make us no better than the criminal. Democrats tend to be more against Capital Punishment and the reason behind it is because it is morally wrong and not our choice to decide if we should take another human beings life or not. On the other hand Republicans have a more aggressive approach to the topic and do not seem to have any pity for the criminals and if it the death penalty fits the crime, than it should be given. The United States government has been involved in several cases involving the death penalty and seem relatively for it. For example The Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev which during a marathon made a bomb and put it in a backpack which killed 5 people in total and injured over 280 people. The united states government will be trying him as a terrorist and if found guilty of the crime of the massacre, the government will be looking to give the murderer the death
