Personal Assessment
In terms of management, I am a complete novice in both knowledge and skill. To be honest, I grew up with an introverted personality, who shied away from the spot light and would always take backseat in any projects and assignments. In this system, the individual is only focused on consequences applied to themselves and disregard the benefits and consequences of their team. This is problematic, as that means individuals who use this ethic system would not work well in a team and are unlikely to report problems to their upper management, out of fear of punishment falling upon themselves. This system relies on the collective values of the group and decides on action based on the group. Company culture would play a large here and thus it could an effective system for management if the culture is positive. I believe that I follow utilitarianism most often. This is because I often consider other when making choice and pick the one that benefits my group the most, often at detriment to myself. For example, when delegating out work, I portion out the work into parts equal to the number of members and allow everyone to choose their parts. I let myself last to give everyone a choice, which often leaves me with the hardest bit. Thus, I can give parts to those who want it the most, leading to the best scenario. While I don’t think this always the best systems to use, I think it helps keeps the team cohesive and happy.
