Assessing the sources of feedback, I agree with how my boyfriend and friends perceived me. As Brian, Julia, and Sydney all mentioned, I do tend to speak my mind and I’m not afraid to tell the truth. The way all three of them know me very well and there isn’t any hidden information that possibly could alter their perspective of me, the way they perceive me is exactly how I perceive myself. Even though the perspectives I received were mostly positive, everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses to improve on. First, I have struggled with anxiety most of my teenage years into my young adult years. As I don’t perceive my anxiety as a weakness, I do find the way I cope with my anxiety to be a weakness in my life. It’s easy to say my anxiety fuels a lack of self-comfort and confidence in myself. These insecurities take a toll on my relationships with loved ones, and I find this a huge weakness. I need to grow as a person and let go of my insecurities through finding ways to be comfortable in my own skin. I have recently been trying to improve by working on my communication and positive self-talk. I have recognized, discussed, and increased awareness of the many concerns for social problems throughout our society. For example, in the textbook and in class we discussed the social concerns regarding gender and communication and as to why there are barriers. I never fully discussed this social problem before this semester, and I now have some awareness to gender communication. I also have improved my interpersonal communication skills throughout this semester. I have come to realize that interpersonal communication skills are a primary aspect to any career field, but especially crucial in the social work field. My goal is to become a CPS social worker, and with this career choice I acknowledge the importance of quality communication between coworkers, clients, and others involved. Another skill I have comfortably adapted to through the semester is the capacity to self-assess critically and with perspective. Right in the beginning of the course, we gathered in small groups and told each other strengths we see in each other. This exercise was merely just the start to self-assessment throughout the semester. After this semester, I am able and comfortable critically assessing myself, and having others critically assess me from their perspective. I am glad I have become comfortable with this exercise, as it will only make me aware of what I need to improve on and better myself
