Plagiarism refers to the act of using the work or ideas of others, and essentially using them as one's own ideas in academic writing. Considering that all academic writing is argument in some fashion, when summarizing, it is imperative to consider the importance of conveying one's own thought process in order to develop a clear, concise argument.
