Growing Student Walking into Composition I, I really did not know what to expect. Since learning to do essay papers, from the start I hated them. I was so intimidated by them, I hated writing. I was never comfortable conducting an essay paper. But now I can say I am getting better at it as well as being more comfortable creating one. My essay paper “Bokonon White Lies” was a successful paper. From the thesis to the three body paragraph and the conclusion I can truly say it was very well organized and very thought out, although I might have struggle with grammar and punctuations, I think overall I fulfilled TCC’s composition I expectations. I focused my whole paper to my thesis statement which was “He creates this belief in the book, so he can expose real religions and show how they are based on lies to keep individuals from the truth on how useless and meaningless life really is.” (Luna). I supported the statement with countless evidence, like when I explained what was Bokononism “ a religion called Bokononism which is based on lies.” (Luna). I put that there because Bokononism is just a made up religion to help everyone live a better life, that statement helps support my thesis. Before getting my paper looking good there is a lot to put in before. I had to plan my paper, create an outline so that it would not go everywhere. Then I had to start putting everything together which would create my rough draft. After that I had to go over it myself to check for mistakes or errors. Next my peers would go over and give me feedback, I would fix the errors my peers found on my paper that I might have overlooked. My writing process was very effective and helped me reached a college level paper. The style of my paper was MLA, which is a standard writing style. Making my paper into MLA style is really easy for me, it is also one of my strong points. Since high school MLA has always been used so it stuck with me. Making sure that my paper is not plagiarizing anything I made sure I paraphrased everything and used quotations marks when needed.
