Progress report

When I began this class, my experience with writing lengthy papers was very limited. I did not come to college with strong writing skills. I am more inclined to technical writing so this is all fairly new to me. I have learned my strengths and my weaknesses and tried to correct them and use them to strengthen my writing skills. I would also use my strengths to keep me on the right track and to accomplish my goals and get a good grade in this class. When I got my first paper back, I realized that I had a few weak areas that needed correction. My weak areas included weaker thesis statements, fragments and run-on sentences, comma splices and using slang and a lot of contractions. I needed to improve on those weak areas. I tried to complete each assignment as it is given to be sure the minimum requirements were met. I was able to meet the minimum word requirements, even exceeding them at times, as well as follow any requirements for font, size, and presentation. Understanding the MLA style of notation has helped me keep my work original. It also gives credit where it is due and allows the reader to further explore the topic of the paper. I tried to put as many details as possible into my paragraphs for the reader to get a clearer picture of the message I was trying to convey. I also used transitions well and wrapped up my paragraphs with a nice conclusion. My struggle at the beginning of this class have made me aware of how hard I will have to work to improve but I am willing to do what is necessary to become a better writer. I am faithful about attending class and learning all I can from teachers, tutor, and peers to improve my
