Reflective Essay: How My Changes Throughout The Writing Process

Throughout the writing process in the first semester of HCC, I have discovered many different approaches to writing papers. I have begun to use many different mechanics and higher level vocabulary. At the same I have practiced and became more familiar with different writing formats. I have also become much more aware of my writing style and have slowly improved it throughout the semester. Although, I still need to improve on my grammar usage throughout my papers. Many of the topics I chose for my papers where based off of my interests. I am slowly improving my writing each year and hopefully in English Composition II my writing will be enhanced much more. Depending on the topic an essay can be difficult to write. Correspondingly, one of my weakest papers I have wrote this semester was the cause or effect paper. I found it difficult because the topics seemed limited. However, one of my best papers this semester was my narration paper. I enjoy writing narrative papers because they can be about anything which allows me to experiment in an enjoyable way. Creating a rough draft before turning the real copy has been extremely helpful. Likewise, when creating an outline of what my paper is going to be about, has helped me tremendously. I will definitely keep creating outlines before writing out the actual paper because it gives me a starting point for my essays. Many of the writing approaches I have learned this semester will be used in my next semester English class. These writing approaches have been extremely useful. I will also continue to improve my sentence structures to develop better essays because that is also one of my weaknesses when it comes to writing an essay.
