Brief summary:
Sabon designed by Jan Tschichold that started in 1964 and finished in 1967. The main reason for Sabon launched which was German Master Printers’ association requested that a new typeface was designed and produced in identical form on both Linotype and Monotype machines so that text and technical composition would match. Sabon is based on typefaces designed by Claude Garamond, who made many Old Roman typefaces. So Sabon belongs to a kind of traditional Roman typeface.

That said, it is surprising that almost all of the 90,000 or so typefaces that are digitally available today (and the vast majority of these are display typefaces) are useful for some purpose, even if it is an obscure one. Typefaces influence communication through appearance and legibility. Aesthetics provide first impressions and express personalities, such as friendly, professional, or sweet and youthful, masculine, or utilitarian. Connotation or implied meaning, inherent in typefaces plays a significant role, be it positive or negative.
