This person started out as a poor boy from Dunfermline, Scotland who was not only intelligent, he was also loving and caring. He slowly worked his way up in the business world. This lead to him making millions of dollar. It also led to him donating million of dollar and becoming one of the most successful philanthropist in the world. This mans name is Andrew Carnegie.
Andrew Carnegie was born on November 25, 1835 in Dunfermline, Scotland, in a small gray house on Moodie Street. To William and Margaret, Andrew was their first child. Andrew would sit downstairs and watch his father as would weave clothing with a pumped sewer. Then when he was four years old, his mother gave birth to his first sister named Ann. When Ann was just a little baby she passed away shortly before the Carnegie’s had another baby, named Tom. In his early age Andrew did not have any interest to start his schooling, and was not forced to attend until he made the decision to. At age twenty one Andrew brought his mother and brother to Altoona to be Scott’s secretary bringing in 50 dollars a month. Then in October of 1855 Andrew’s father passed away at the age of fifty one, due to illness. In 1858, on one of the railroad’s trains, a stranger named, Theodore Woodruff, approached Andrew with a model of sleeping car where passenger could sleep in the train at night without moving to a new car or anything. He then presented this idea of a sleeping car to President Thomson and Mr. Scott. The Pennsylvania railroad decided to produce the sleeping car.
