What can you learn about the company's early history? What I learned of Anheuser-Busch’s early history is that to achieve to be the best, one should put their best foot forward. The Germans knew that lager was different and better than the traditional American beer, therefore they proceeded with confidence that it will win the hearts of not just Germans, but all. History repeated itself in 1876, as Adolphus Busch was determined to outshine all other brewery. A lager with an American twist became the cream of the crop with label “Budweiser” to go along with it. The company took risks and played safe and also utilized their own resources well, using the very brewery as a showplace to the public. Anheuser & Co.by 1860. I think the reason why Anheuser was able to out buy other investors had a lot to do with the fact he was already part owner of the company. Busch was added to the company name in recognition for his success in promoting and advertising in 1879. Is the founder still with the organization? No, Eberhard Anheuser died in 1880. Do you think the founders original vision is still embraced by the company? If not, how has the vision changed? Yes, like the American style lager that exceeded expectations, Anheuser-Busch continues the striving to satisfy diverse tastes. Today, the company has 56 brands. One of them is Bud-Lite Lime which is much sweeter than the average beer, living up to the American taste. I left my country Malaysia when I was 18, so I never dived into alcohol there. However, I have had ‘Shandy’. ‘Shandy’ is very popular amongst Malaysians during holidays especially New Year. It is a cider-like beverage with only one per cent alcohol and very low acidity and hint of sweetness, mostly a savory flavor. Malaysians in general are not big on alcohol, hence the one per cent.
