Hi every body the current legal issue I choose to focus on is animal agriculture and the detrimental effect it is having on our environment.
Animal agriculture is the most destructive industry facing the environment today and the leading cause of human made climate change. According to the United Nations intergovernmental panel on Climate Change. It is the leading cause of deforestation, water consumption, pollution, and is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the whole transportation industry combined, it alone is the primary driver of rainforest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion, ocean “dead zones,” and pretty much every other environmental issue you can think of. But because it is also one of the largest

humans who eat meat than we can feed. Because we’ve altered the natural food cycle so much even the food used to raise livestock are damaging the environment. More than two-thirds of all agricultural land is now devoted to growing feed for livestock, while only 8 percent is used to grow food for direct human consumption, although the western world are by far the biggest meat eaters. Developing countries are boosting the demand even higher, as a pattern is emerging in developing countries where when people get more money, they increase the meat and animal products in their diets, following the western standard. If the entire world population were to consume as much meat as the Western world does right now which is according to Stanford around 176 pounds of meat per person per year the global land required would be two-thirds more than what we use right now which would be more land that we have on earth. But at the same time, people in certain regions of the world, such as southern Africa, are suffering from a deficiency of animal protein, and the means to enrich their diet.
It is clear the simplest way to stop climate change is for everyone who can to go vegan or vegetarian but it is also clear because obsessive meat consumption is so deeply ingrained in western culture most people in the world will not give up meat and dairy products. But climate change is the most significant issue of our time and animal agriculture is by far the biggest contributor so we need to find ways to globally reduce the consumption of meat and dairy products and make the industry of animal agriculture more
