Are animals truly intelligent? There have been many stories about animal intelligence, such as the story of Villa the dog. That saved the life of eleven-year-old Andrea Anderson. Though many people would disagree about it being intelligent. Animals do exhibit intelligence because they can save people, they can solve problems, and they know how to survive in their environment. To start with, animals do exhibit intelligence because they can save people. According to ''Animal Snoops: The Wondrous World of Wildlife Spies,'' it said, ''Marshmallow-six-year-old green parrot-had been quietly eavesdropping. And the private-eye parrot had learned a thing or two, including the nickname of one of the robbers: J.J.'' Because of Marshmallow the police managed to capture the thieves. The thieves had underestimated the idea that Marshmallow could eavesdrop on them. But because of that, the robbers were caught. For example, as stated before in the first paragraph from ''How Smart are Animals,'' it said,''...she leapt over the five-foot fence and rushed to Andrea's side ...she licked the girl then began circling her, packing down the snow. Villa stood still...the dog waited until Andrea grabbed her, then strained forward, pulling the girl form the drift.''
