Anne Marie Frank a famous holocaust victim left her experience behind for others to learn about. Anne’s diary shares her emotions and feelings during her experience of living through the holocaust. Anne experienced being a normal girl in her early life, being in hiding from Nazi’s and horrible life in concentration camps.
Even though Anne Frank grew up during World War II she still had a normal happy childhood. Annelies Marie Frank was born to her father Otto Frank and Edith Frank on June 12, 1929. Anne’s sister, Margot Frank was 3 years older than Anne. The Frank family lived in Frankfurt Am Main Germany. Otto Frank ran a family bank business while Edith was a stay at home mother. Hitler began to grow in army and power. Hitler didn’t just not like Jews but he was set off to kill them. In 1933 Germany established the first jewish concentration camp where jews would be punished, tortured and even starved. Many Jews were also being slaughtered in concentration camps. In 1935 Hitler put in a system of laws to punish Jews. In Germany Jews were considered noncitizens. Nazi beliefs were being spread to neighboring countries. The Frank family felt that they should go into hiding because they like many other Jewish families did not want to experience the pain in concentration camps. In 1942 just a few weeks after Anne’s thirteenth birthday the Frank family went into hiding. The Van Pels family was a dutch family with jewish ancestors went into hiding with Anne’s family. Mr. and Mrs. Van Pels had a son, Peter, who was around Anne’s age. Fritz Pfeffer a family friend and dentist also joined these to families in hiding. In order to keep a secret that eight Jewish people were in hiding they didn’t make loud noises or go in front of windows. Miep Gies, a friend of Anne’s parents helped keep the family safe and supplied with many necessaries. The families called there hideout the Secret Annex. The Annex was hidden behind a bookshelf.
