The Frank Family were stuck in the Secret Annex with another Jewish family. However, even in this bad situation, Anne Frank looks towards the positive things. As stated in The Diary of a Young Girl, “As for us, we’re quite fortunate. Luckier than millions of people. It’s quiet and safe here, and we’re using our money to buy food.”
Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl living in Amsterdam during the occupation by the Nazis. She was forced to go into hiding above her father's work for two years to avoid prison. During her time in hiding, she kept a diary and wrote about her experience. Frank writes about her loving and compassionate family and also mentions how she has built new relationships with the other families in the house. In her diaries, Frank frequently emphasizes the value of family, emphasizing how her trials were made easier by the presence of those she loved who understood what she was going through.
It became hard for Anne, she was put into a segregated Jewish school, her father even had to give up his title in his business. On June 12, 1942 Anne got a diary for her birthday, this will later be the reason we know Anne Frank’s story. On July 5, 1942 Anne’s family were forced into hiding; it was no longer safe for their family to live in the outside world. She wrote in her diary “ The world will keep turning without me, and I can’t do anything to change events anyway.” The family spent two years in hiding, it wasn't till August 4, 1944 that the family was found by the police, they arrested everyone in hiding.

Also during these two years she wrote in her diary about her experiences of each day and what her wishes were. Her father Otto Frank and her mother Edith Frank including the Van Daans would try and take care of the family as best as they could. In hiding, they were not able to leave their home as they might get caught.

Even though Anne was an optimist, Anne Frank had a very rough time in hiding. Having to share a cramped attic with seven other people, limited food, and limited space. The only place she could go for comfort was her diary, Kitty. Anne loved the outdoors and nature, but the only contact to the outside was Miep and Mr. Kraler. She never got to experience a normal life because she was in the Secret Annex for two years, hiding because she was disparate.

We can learn more about the Holocaust by the examining the day-to-day experiences of one. Yes, this might seem pointless to some, but in the end you can really discover a lot of about this historical event. Like how a victim felt during a time of distress. Or how they coped with the situation. For example in Anne Frank’s diary entries, there is many ways in which Anne, her family, and her parents’ close friends’ family, show their reactions and emotions towards the series of events that occurred when living amongst each other living together.
Anne and her family, the Franks needed to go into hiding due to the Nazis invasion. They hid in “The Secret Annex,” with another family, the Van Daans and a dentist, Mr. Dussel. Anne’s relationship with her mother is one the main sources for conflict. Anne writes, “Just had a big bust-up with Mummy for the umpteenth time; we simply don’t get on together these days…” (Frank 30).
The Diary of Anne Frank told of a young girl who endured the unthinkable. Anne Frank and her family and friends hid in an attic for three years, and through it all, Anne tried to keep a smile on her face. Anne told us through her diary how she maintained her carefree self for her family even though she had long since outgrew that little girl. It was on her 13th birthday that she got a diary. In her diary, she wrote about her friendships, crushes and her academic performance at school. Anne had an older sister named Margot, and they attended a Jewish school in Amsterdam. In this diary, the Franks moved to Netherlands from Germany because they feared prosecution. After the Germans invaded the Netherlands in 1940, the Franks, another family called the van Daans and Mr Russell hid in a small secret annex above Otto Frank’s, Anne’s father’s office.
Imagine how it feels to be stuck in a tiny, miniscule room for almost two years, not able to make a sound or movement and if heard by someone,death or concentration camp is the destination? The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett is about a small family which consists of Anne, Margot, Mr. Frank, and Mrs. Frank who were in a shock of fear, and went into hiding during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. Over the course of the story other characters join the family into hiding such as Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan, and their son Peter. During the time of hiding, Anne kept a diary to write down all her thoughts, fears, and feelings and was later known to be the most important piece of literature from the times of the Holocaust. The story takes you through their everyday lives of hiding in the annex which also includes arguing and times of happiness.
When the Nazis invaded Amsterdam, Anne’s father took help from some local friends to hide in a complex of his office. The office is known commonly as the “Secret Annex.” Days were spent here in worry, but everyone kept each other alive with love and support. Anne wrote in her diary, which kept her motivated to live. For two years, her and 7 others hid in solitary.
