Critical Preface
Engineering has been essential to our civilization from the beginning of time. Civil Engineers have designed and built many things that we would consider to be necessities today. Most people would associate an engineer with making a lot of money. But, are they really being fairly compensated for their work? Most engineering projects spill into their time away from work and most engineers are not compensated for that time unless they they have they’re own practice where they bill consumers accordingly. They record the number of jobs, median pay per year and per hour, just to name a few. This source also provides information about what civil engineers do, their work environment, how to become a civil engineer, similar occupations and much more. I think this source is a one stop shop for anyone that wants to know about the civil engineering field. This will be be beneficial to my research by providing me with the median salary of civil engineers and also provide me with a summary/overview of the civil engineering field, outlining why they are an important part of our civilization. Their reasoning for this is that over the course of 90 days before this article was written, the United States had more than 22,000 jobs available online for civil engineers. The source also talks about why the demand is so high, and what employers are actually looking for in their civil engineering candidates. This source uses statistical information very well and does a good job of citing their sources. The source will be useful to me by explaining how supply and demand affects how much employers are willing to play civil engineers.
