Annotated Bibliography: Critical Pedagogy and Globalization What does critical pedagogy and globalization mean to technology, condition, and learning? This is the research question that guided the search of relevant articles. Initially, I limited the key words to “critical pedagogy,” “globalization,” “technology,” “cognition,” and “learning” using all databases but found no result. Consequently, I added “critical pedagogy” and “globalization” to “technology,” “cognition,” and “learning” individually to find appropriate articles. Furthermore, the filter included limiting studies to the past seven years to acquire the latest research. Additionally, they included diverse subjects but had emphasis on language learning classes. Moreover, instead of limiting myself to the U.S. context, I included diverse settings.

He applied critical pedagogy in examining the political nature of language and language-teaching classes. Specifically, he asserted that teachers should discuss the dominant linguistic practices and hierarchies with students to encourage them in analyzing the role of language in performing different social functions and identity development. In addition, language learning is related to globalization through the significance of bilingualism in communication and multicultural education. After studying several reports on language and society, Del Valle (2014) concluded that teachers should inform students of their linguistic choices by equipping them with the analytical tools required to study these political, social, and cultural choices. Critical pedagogy includes training students' critical thinking skills for greater understanding of metalinguistic content that can meet the intellectual needs and challenges of global multicultural education.
