One giant leap for mankind? Or a giant hoax for mankind? It depends on who one may ask. The Apollo 11 mission took place from July 16, 1969 to July 20, 1969. The primary goal of this mission was to safely land a man on the moon, and that is what reports say happened, but not everyone agrees. Conspiracy theorists believe that the moon landing was one of the biggest lies told not only to America, but to the whole world. They say it was fake because of a movie that was released back in 1968. They claim it was a hoax because you can’t see a camera reflection in a spacesuit. They know that the American flag shouldn’t appear to be flapping in the wind while in space. But this is just a small fraction of why conspiracy theorists believe that the Apollo …show more content…

According to Becky Little, conspiracy theorists believe “The moon landing is fake because the American flag looks like it is flapping in the wind.” But what does this have to do with the landing being faked? Well according to an online article “there is no wind on the moon..” (Launius). Space is a vacuum so of course there is no wind and that is why conspiracy theorists are suspicious of the mission. But this is only one of many reasons. A popular idea that conspiracy theorists say proves that the landing was a lie is “The moon landing is fake because Stanley Kubrick filmed it.” (Little) But how does this prove their point and what does Kubrick have to do with it? Rich Cohen, who is a believer himself says “Kubrick’s masterpiece, 2001: A Space Odyssey, had been released the year before.” He then follows up with “Though shot in a studio it …show more content…

navy officer who worked as a technical writer for one of the rocket manufacturers for NASA’s Apollo moon missions” (Stafford). But why does this matter? Well this explains why Kaysings has any credibility to speak on the matter. According to Joe Stafford “He claimed that he had inside knowledge of a government conspiracy to fake the moon landing…” Bill Kaysing was the first person to blow the whistle on the Apollo 11 moon landing and there is only one reason that what happened is/was in question. People could not grasp the fact that NASA could manage to safely land a man on the moon."These are regions surrounding the Earth in our magnetic field where high energy trapped particles from the Sun tend to get confined," Prof Ojha says. This means that there are extremely high radiation levels and concerns that the astronauts would have to go through. This caused the conspiracy theorists to question how the astronauts would go through this unharmed. They knew that this level of high radiation would have surely killed them. The only “proof” the conspiracy theorists have is either circumstantial or just
