When it comes to urban legends and conspiracy theories, there is one urban legend in particular that comes to mind; Area 51. Area 51 is a United States military base located just north of Las Vegas, Nevada. It is a place whose existence the U.S. government long spurned to acknowledge, until now. On August 16th, 2015, the CIA released declassified documents about the history of the U-2 plane. These documents officially acknowledge Area 51. Furthermore, the Air Force states that the purpose of the base is to test experimental pieces of military hardware. However, the base is famous for other reasons. There are various conspiracies that are linked to Area 51. Some divulge that it was the location at which the government recorded the famous moon landing. Others assert that the Majestic 12, a secret committee of scientists recruited by President Truman to track down the various UFOs that were spotted in U.S skies, is really a committee planning the New World Order on the base. But there is one Area 51 conspiracy that dominates them all, the idea that Area 51 is housing aliens. Like all the other theories stated above this one is false. Area 51 is not a top-secret US military base, in which the government conceals the evidence of aliens visiting the Earth from the public. Claims of individuals such as Lazar’s are invalid. Furthermore, there is more solid evidence proving that Area 51 is a top secret base in which United States of America tests experimental pieces of military hardware.
