Apollo 13 The launch date for Apollo 13 was, April 11, 1970. There were three astronauts aboard, which where Fred Haise, Jack Swigert, and Jim Lovell. Apollo 13 was a mission for these three intelligent astronauts to land on the moon, which did not happen. These three men where very close to landing on the moon until they had a problem with the oxygen. Apollo 13 mission failed at the last minute due to a malfunction. “After Apollo 12 came the famous Apollo 13 mission in which a serious incident involving the service module crippled the spacecraft and placed the mission in jeopardy.” (Allday,6) This incident devastated the United States, this was the third time that the United States tried to land on the moon. “Thankfully some brilliant improvisation on the part of mission control and the resilience of the astronauts …show more content…

They have scientists that have researched every single one of the Apollo’s. “This cannot be blamed on NASA for that organization has produced many plans over the years only to have them aborted because of lack of support either from Congress, the Administration, or the general public.” (Burgess, 14) A lot of people put blame on NASA because it cost so much money and time for people, and it is very frustrating when something fails and it was all wasted pretty much. “Yet even today the space station program comes under repeated attack by columnists and members of Congress.” (Burgess, 14) This blame on NASA is still happening today.
