We know the history of civilizations, science, math, literature, and history itself from written records. In our history, people have burned books and refused to allow people to learn and educate themselves through books to limit knowledge and to erase power, because books are intrinsically linked to education and power. And as we know- knowledge is power. Books also allow people to expand their horizons by reading material from other points of views and lives.
First, students cannot be kept in a protective bubble forever. Secondly, important life lessons are taught through books. Finally, classic literature, which is full of valuable information, is most often banned.

They help form learning bonds and distinguish each way a child learns. It is important to make each teacher feel needed and appreciated appropriately.
Books can show kids the struggles of real people and can teach them empathy and sympathy for these people. When you take away these books children have a narrow view on life and won’t be able to look through other people’s perspectives. In the article, ‘The Negative Effects of Book Banning in the Classroom’, the author, Chiesa says, “When individuals restrict their children from reading certain books, they can't enforce those beliefs onto other children and families. Banning books has the potential to create gaps in knowledge for young learners.” Children will learn less if they are restricted from reading certain books and these restrictions can also affect children in the same classroom.
So why not let them better prepare themselves by reading a more challenging and mature book. Therefore, I believe that school board members should not ban books from the school library because, students can get more of a challenge from certain books, you also can get many life lessons from a more mature book, and students also get more of a choice which means more books to read.
